Remote Desktop Service

What? Using remote desktop access software you can allow remote access to your Windows computer. During remote desktop session mouse commands and keystrokes are passed from the remote computer to your (host) computer. The host computer, in turn, transmits a graphical view of its entire Windows Desktop to the remotely connected user.

Why? Usually we use FTP and HTTP protocols in order to perform setup and maintenance works on a customer’s web server. However setting up certain software (such as ActiveState Perl) on a Windows server or configuring Windows Internet Information Services requires desktop access. Also, if you want us to provide service for a web server located behind a firewall, sharing a desktop on a local PC may be the most straightforward solution.

How? The preferred solution is standard (see also ). However the computer must be accessible via Internet (it may not reside behind firewall). In order to establish Remote Desktop session we will need address of the computer (IP number or domain name), user login and password. Please note that Windows XP does not allow simultaneous sessions, your session will be suspended during remote access. If standard Remote Desktop is not an option (due to firewall or software configuration issues), we provide alternate solution - the Desktop Sharing Agent. It is a mini (167K) that does not require installation and does not make use of the Windows registry. You only have to download the little executable and click to make a connection. The Desktop Sharing Agent is automatically and systematically deinstalled when the connection is closed.
